One of the first steps in planning a prom is choosing a theme. Choosing a prom can be mounds of fun. Themes can range from Mardi Gras to the Grecian Gardens and anywhere in between. Prom themes can be very simple or complex. So let’s get started! You’re only 7 basic steps away from the perfect prom theme.
Step 1-Choose a Prom Theme
If it’s your first time dealing with themes, always choose a simple and easy theme to execute, do not feel like you have to choose a theme that is difficult. Brainstorm with your prom committee to come up with ideas.
Step 2-Draft Design Plan for Prom Theme
Once you and your committee has determined a theme. Then, have your prom decoration committee go measure the area where the prom is going to be held. If it is in a banquet hall, you may request a floor plan along with the room dimensions. This will help you determine how much money you should put aside for decorates. After you come up with the budget, have your prom committee start thinking of ways to decorate for prom within the budget plan.
Step 3- Find Local Merchants for Prom Theme
Research your local neighborhood for merchants that are willing to donate items for prom. You’ll be surprise; many of your local neighborhood stores are willing to help out in someway or another. Some merchants will let you borrow items or give you a big discount, if you do some free advertising for their business at your school sports events.
Step 4- Get Ready to Build your Prom Theme
If the items are ready to be built, schedule a date for volunteers and prom committee members to meet up and start working on the prom decorations, either in the school cafeteria or at somebody's house.
Step 5- Include Food in your Prom Theme
Everybody loves food, especially after hours of dancing. You should have the catering sub-committee research foods that can be incorporated in your theme. For example, using a Mardi Gras theme, you could create a non-alcohol margarita bar.
Step 6- Fantastic Favors can add to your Prom Theme
At many schools around the world, you will receive a traditional prom favor such as champagne glass. Usually with a logo on the glass, including: the prom theme and date painted on the glass. In addition you should include a themed favor such as a Mardi Gras mask to complement the Mardi Gras theme.
Step 7- Get Help with your Prom Theme
Don’t be afraid to ask for help, implementing a prom theme can present many challenges that some of your prom committee member's, coordinator and staff can find very overwhelming and time consuming. If you and your prom committee are running out of time trying making your theme come alive, hire an event planner.
If you think an event planner is out of your budget? Think of some ways to cut back, so you can afford an event planner. For example, buy your food and decorations in bulk or wholesale store; this will help save a little extra money. And keep in mind, you could always raise the price of the prom tickets by a couple bucks, this will cover the expense of an event planner. With the expertise of a professional event planner, your prom theme will be able to be execute and create a memorable experience for all that attend prom.
